Kornberger ist als klinischer Psychologe und Psychotherapeut (Verhaltenstherapie) an der Station für forensische Akutpsychiatrie im Otto-Wagner-Spital in Wien sowie als Psychotherapeut in freier Praxis tätig. Außerdem unterrichtet er an der Fakultät für Psychologie der Universität Wien.
