International Society and Conference Series on Medical Image Computing and Computer-Assisted Intervention

MICCAI Society Mission Statement

The Medical Image Computing and Computer Assisted Intervention Society (the MICCAI Society) is dedicated to the promotion, preservation and facilitation of research, education and practice in the field of medical image computing and computer assisted medical interventions including biomedical imaging and robotics, through the organization and operation of regular high quality international conferences and publications which promote and foster the exchange and dissemination of advanced knowledge, expertise and experience in the field produced by leading institutions and outstanding scientists, physicians and educators around the world. The MICCAI Society is committed to maintaining high academic standards and independence from any personal, political or commercial vested interests.

MICCAI Conference Series

The MICCAI annual Conferences have become established as the premier international series with in-depth papers on medical image computing, computer-assisted intervention and medical robotics.
The focus of MICCAI Conferences is on methodology for applications, with a strong emphasis on validation within applications. One of the goals is to improve communication between disciplines, to make state-of-the-art methodology as accessible as possible to clinicians and bioscientists, and to help basic scientists understand the detailed requirements in different clinical and bioscience application areas. Understanding is seldom imparted by short presentations and abstracts. The full-length peer reviewed papers that characterise MICCAI are hard work for authors, reviewers and readers, but they are worth the effort. The Proceedings are important and completely up-to-date reference works covering the state-of-the-art in the field.

MICCAI Proceedings

Springer has published the MICCAI Proceedings as volumes in the Lecture Notes in Computer Science since the very beginning of the conference series in 1998.
MICCAI Proceedings papers are full-length papers that have been subjected to peer review that is more stringent than many journals. This is reflected in the high citation rate of MICCAI Proceedings papers.
MICCAI LNCS volumes are listed in ISI and Medline.
