Microchimica Acta (MCA) publishes articles on all aspects of modern (bio)analytical methods based on the use of (new) micro/nano-materials. Coverage includes micro- and nanoparticles, micro/nanowires, molecular frameworks, meso- and nanoporous materials, thin films, respective hybrid materials, and MEMs and NEMs. Coverage also includes the characterization, methods for modification and (bio)functionalization of surfaces, core-shell technologies, and the preparation of nanocomposites. However, (bio)analytical uses in electrochemical, optical or other detection schemes, or for purposes of extraction always shall be demonstrated.
On the other hand, MCA hardly publishes (a) articles on spectrophotometry, electroanalysis, molecular imprinting, flow-injection analysis or chromatographic methods unless they describe novel uses of micro/nano-material; (b) articles on the analysis of species in simple matrices such as water, dosage forms or spiked samples unless superiority over other methods is demonstrated; (c) articles on methods for preconcentration and microextraction unless they display distinct advantages over existing ones and use is made of micro/nanomaterials; (d) articles of mainly theoretical or statistical nature; (e) articles on the characterization of objects or arts unless new methods of wider scope are being presented.
