2014 AOCS Best Paper Awards

For the 2014 award year, four journal articles from 2013 AOCS journals published by Springer were recognized with best paper awards.

Edwin Frankel Award for Best Paper in Lipid Oxidation and Quality 

The AOCS Lipid Oxidation and Quality Division’s best paper award is presented annually to the authors of an outstanding paper relating to lipid oxidation or quality published during the past year in an AOCS journal published by Springer. The award is sponsored by Kalsec, Inc.
This year’s recipients are Jae Hwan Lee, Atikorn Panya, Mickaël Laguerre, Christelle Bayrasy, Jérôme Lecomte, Pierre Villeneuve, and Eric A. Decker for their article entitled “Comparison of Antioxidant Capacities of Rosmarinate Alkyl Esters in Riboflavin Photosnsitized Oil-in-Water Emulsions.” (JAOCS vol. 90:225-232)

Archer Daniels Midland Award 

The Archer Daniels Midland Award is presented annually to the authors of two outstanding papers relating to proteins and co-products published during the past year in an AOCS journal published by Springer. Archer Daniels Midland and the AOCS Protein and Co-Products Division sponsor the award.
Chemistry/Nutrition Category
This year’s recipients in the chemistry/nutrition category are Felix Aladedunye, Ewa Sosinska, and Roman Przybylski for “Flaxseed Cyclolinopeptides: Analysis and Storage Stability.” (JAOCS vol. 90:419-428)
Engineering/Technology Category
This year’s recipients in the engineering/technology category are Shao Bing Zhang, Xiang Jun Liu, Qi Yu Lu, Zi Wei Wang, and Xiang Zhao for “Enzymatic Demulsification of the Oil-Rich Emulsion Obtained by Aqueous Extraction of Peanut Seeds.” (JAOCS vol. 90:1261-1270)

The American Cleaning Institute Distinguished Paper Award 

The American Cleaning Institute (ACI) Award is presented annually to the authors of the best technical paper appearing during the preceding year in the Journal of Surfactants and Detergents (JSD), a publication of AOCS Press and Springer. The American Cleaning Institute, along with the AOCS Surfactants and Detergents Division sponsors the award.
This year’s recipients are Julia Boos, Wiebke Drenckhan, and Cosima Stubenrauch for “Protocol for Studying Aqueous Foams Stabilized by Surfactant Mixtures.” (JSD vol. 16:1-12)
