Ein wesentlicher Grund für das ökonomische Scheitern von Unternehmensakquisitionen liegt in der mangelnden Beachtung der Integrationsproblematik. Zur Verbesserung des Integrationsmanagements muss das Integrationscontrolling als unterstützendes Prozess- und Projektcontrolling strategische und operative Aufgaben wahrnehmen und die erforderlichen Instrumente bereitstellen.

Auf der Basis eines koordinationsorientierten Controlling-Verständnisses entwickelt Matthias Metz das konzeptionelle Grundgerüst eines Integrationscontrollings aus einer wertorientierten Perspektive im Sinne des Shareholder-Value-Ansatzes. Als Hauptbetrachtungsgegenstand des Integrationscontrollings analysiert und systematisiert er das Phänomen Synergie. Seine fundierte Untersuchung des Aufgabenspektrums wird durch die Beschreibung ausgewählter Instrumente und praktikabler Umsetzungs- und Gestaltungsempfehlungen abgerundet.

Dr. Matthias Metz promovierte bei Prof. Dr. Egbert Kahle am Lehrstuhl für Entscheidung und Organisation der Universität Lüneburg. Er ist derzeit als Unternehmensberater für McKinsey & Company, Inc. tätig.
