BioMed Central, part of Springer Science+Business Media, is an STM (Science, Technology and Medicine) publisher which has pioneered the open access publishing model. All original research articles published by BioMed Central are made freely and permanently accessible online immediately upon publication. BioMed Central now has over 240 open access journals, about half of which being indexed by SCI. Currently we are looking for a Sales Executive to expand our business and activities in China.
Position
Sales Executive, BioMed Central
Purpose of the Role
• To develop existing business relationships in China;
• To develop new business opportunities in China.
Location
Springer Beijing Representative Office, Beijing, China
Reporting Line
Report to the Business Development Manager China, with a dotted line to Head of Sales in London
Duties and Responsibilities
• To achieve annual sales targets;
• To build up the sales market and increase business remarkably;
• To demonstrate our publishing program, Open Repository, and other new products to existing and potential customers;
• To prepare forecasts, sales analyses, trip reports etc. and attend exhibitions as required;
• To maintain regular direct contact with existing customers and prospects;
• To identify prospects and cultivate relationships with new potential customers;
• To respond to leads generated from marketing efforts as well as cultivating self-generated prospects;
• To promote open access in China;
• To provide accurate activity summaries and sales forecasts for management's review thus ensuring successful forecast management
• To travel overseas to London and other destinations when necessary

• Excellent presentation skills
• Good command of both written and spoken English
• Willing to and available for frequent business trips all over China
• Basic knowledge and strong interest in open access publishing
• Proven mastery of Office applications including Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook.
Required Education and Experience:
• Bachelor degree or above
• Minimum 3 years’ sales work experience with a tracked hit-target record
