​Mit dieser kriminologischen Längsschnittstudie nimmt Verena Boxberg Jugendstrafgefangene zu verschiedenen Zeitpunkten in den Blick. Die Autorin betrachtet zunächst die Lebenskonstellationen der jungen Menschen vor ihrer Inhaftierung und anschließend, wie diese als Jugendstrafgefangene ihre Inhaftierung wahrnehmen und wie ihre Re-Integration (Sozial- und Legalbewährung) nach der Entlassung verläuft. Sie arbeitet verschiedene Lebenskonstellationen und Hafterfahrungen heraus und setzt diese in Beziehung zueinander. Der Hintergrund für diese Betrachtung ist die Frage nach den Möglichkeiten der professionellen Unterstützung des Re-Integrationsprozesses – trotz Unfreiwilligkeit und Freiheitsentzuges – während der Verbüßung einer Jugendstrafe. Das Buch enthält zudem konkrete Implikationen für die Vollzugspraxis.
