About this book

This systematic and comprehensive monograph is devoted to parametric X-ray radiation (PXR). This radiation is generated by the motion of electrons inside a crystal, whereby the emitted photons are diffracted by the crystal and the radiation intensity critically depends on the parameters of the crystal structure. Nowadays PXR is the subject of numerous theoretical and experimental studies throughout the world. The first part of the book is a theoretical treatment of PXR, which includes a new approach to describe the radiation process in crystals. The second part is a survey of PXR experimental results and the possible applications of PXR as a tool for crystal structure analysis and a source of tunable X-ray radiation.

About the authors

Professor V.G.Baryshevsky is the head of "The Research Institute for Nuclear Problems". He is one of the predictor of PXR and some other new physical phenomena in the field of nuclear optics, the author of several monographs concerning the coherent interaction of the particles with condensed matter. He has been awarded by Belarusian National State Scientific Prize, is the author of numerous publications, patents, invited speaker at international conferences.

Professor I.D.Feranchuk has 35-year teaching experience at the Department of Theoretical Physics. He is also one of the PXR predictor and is working actively in the field non-perturbative description of the various quantum systems. He has been awarded by Belarusian National State Scientific Prize, the author of hundreds of publications in recognized international journals.

Dr. A.Ulyanenkov is working in x-ray field since many years, has an academic and industrial experience. The author of numerous publication on x-ray fundamental and industrial studies, has several patents regarding PXR and x-ray in USA, Europe and Japan.
